Through our Microfinance Loans, we have the potential to make a real and positive change in the community. This is one of our key areas of focus here at Global Community Development Initiatives, and a source of much success for our Non-Profit. Water Access
Doing What’s Needed
Most of our efforts pertaining to this program involve communities contacting us with their requests. We have built boreholes in Afghanistan, Myanmar, Bangladesh, South Africa, Sierra Leone, Zanzibar, Malawi and Mozambique. We evaluate our success by monitoring the number of people collecting water each week and the amount they collect. We encourage the communities to maintain the borehole once provided and share the responsibility of keeping the area tidy.

The Focus of Our Efforts
Goat Breeding
Our Goat Breeding program has been very enthusiastically received in 6 African countries. During 2020-2022, 138 families were gifted with a pair of young breeding goats. Goats are the gateway to micro-farming, allowing families to build economic independence by growing their herd, selling the milk, fertilizer and meat. We selected the families by choosing widows and families who care for orphans, providing a few pairs of goats within the same village so they can breed and the children can enjoy them together.
Community Spiritual Upliftment
As many of the families in Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, DR Congo, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Uganda and Zanzibar are Muslim, we facilitate the donations of annual Qurbani (Festival of the Sacrifice) animals to be distributed to impoverished families. During 2021-22, 19 cows and 289 sheep and goats were distributed in 7 countries, very gratefully received by the various communities. The animals are delivered three days before the event and nurtured. The meat is shared between all families. You are welcome to participate, we provide each donor with photos and videos so they feel like they are part of the event.

Community Spiritual Upliftment
In Sierra Leone, in the town of Songo a community approached us to assist with repairing and completing an extension of a mosque for education, and completing the building of a mosque for a community of 800 to use during Ramadan 2021. The beauty of this project is that every step was done in community consultation and locals where employed to do all aspects of the project. A true community development initiative.
Agriculture Training
A community Nursery was started and village residents trained in horticulture from growing the seedlings, to harvesting. The community nursery is integral for village residents to grow, harvest and sell their own food in the markets. Allowing them to be self sufficient and earn a living. This project was in Sierra Leone, where the ground is very fertile and villagers have access to the borehole water provided through Global Community Development Inititatives.

Malawi Educational Centre
An educational centre in Mangochi district of Malawi is being built to use as a multipurpose venue for adult vocational education, computer literacy classes, parenting and breastfeeding workshops, childcare centre and community space. A borehole has been built in the vicinity for local village people to draw clean, safe and free drinking water.
Malawi Maize Farming
Families in Malawi have been sponsored with 10kg maize seed and 100kg fertilizer to plant during Novembers rainy season, for harvesting in 2022. Government subsidies for the fertilizer made this project very attainable for us and our sponsors were very enthusiastic to support this tremendous initiative.

Making a Difference
Naseema had the priviledge of living with a Swahili family in Zanzibar and Arusha in 2018, with her tourism research and the demand for information by visitors traveling to Zanzibar, this book was published in 2021. Funds raised from the sale of this book are used toward the organisations goals.
